You are not who you think you are.

A seemingly ordinary existence is shattered when Willow is assaulted and left for dead near her San Francisco home. It is not a random attack, as she soon discovers. The stranger who rescues her tells her she’s part of a hidden race of people whose oppressive government is on the verge of a violent uprising.

Against her will, she is drawn into a maze of deception and conspiracy, which defies everything she has ever known. As she attempts to separate fact from fiction, she becomes too entrenched to retreat.

Her only hope is to discover the truth before it is too late.

In this first installment of The Velieri Uprising, newfound novelist Tessa Van Wade, creates a deeply layered world of unforgettable characters in a fast-paced struggle for survival.

Author: Tessa Van Wade

Tessa Van Wade’s love for writing began at nineteen years old when she decided to put the stories in her mind onto paper. Years later, as a young mother, she would sit on the floor typing while holding her laptop in the air so her children could play on her lap. When her manuscripts found their way into the hands of her friends, they urged her to keep writing. Nine books and twenty years later, she is finally sharing her work with a broader audience. Tessa and Ben, her husband of 20 years, own a boutique gym and pilates studio in Kailua Kona, Hawaii. They have two daughters who have grown up watching their mother work as a personal trainer by day and a novelist by night. You can stay in touch with her at

The first thing I need to say is that when I reached the end of this book and saw the “To be continued…” I definitely felt the familiar and frustrating impatience that comes at the end of a story that hasn’t really ended. That means to me that the author truly drew me into her world and I wasn’t ready to leave! I did feel that it was a bit confusing from the start, but that can be a fun way to be introduced to a story, too. The story is interesting, compelling, and fascinating. The world that Tessa Van Wade creates—an alternate reality, yet plausibly reality—is intriguing, and she develops a story and characters within that world that make you easily root for them. I really am looking forward to seeing where this story goes. Bring on book two!

I can’t recommend this book enough!
It will keep you on the edge of your seat from the first page to the last sucking you into the well layered story until you feel as if you are one of The characters and then you realize… in a way you are.
I am still processing and pondering the parallels in my own journey and those I love weeks later.
This book did to my heart what the matrix did to my head. I can’t wait for the second one!
